Finished my first Spartan Race last weekend in Arizona. It was a Spartan Sprint, 4.7 miles of dirty bloody fun! TEAM ASK ME ABOUT MY T-REX was comprised of myself and my friends Ramy and Kevin. We did great! I completed most of the obstacles besides the spear throw. Definitely need to do more trail running because those steep Arizona hills killed me. Ha! Looking forward to the April Super Spartan in Vegas and the June Spartan Beast in Utah to join the Spartan Trifecta Tribe. And it looks like I’ll be doing double trifecta with 3 Spartan Races in August per my cousin’s motivation and inspiration.
Anyways, here’s my results for the race.
RAWR! Our shirts were awesome too!

Oh How I Wish, That Was Me
Yesterday I participated in the Run for a Wish 5K with my awesome friend Ashley, representing our Las Vegas Young Professionals Kiwanis Team. MAMANOVA got in on the action too and walked it. I found out that Ashley is an awesome running partner. She’s more experienced and I kept having to run faster to match her pace.
Definitely an improvement for me in this run compared to last week. Here’s our results:

Ashley and I spent the whole day together because after the run we also volunteered for Ronald McDonald House’s annual food drive collecting donations at the Smith’s on Flamingo and Ft. Apache. I love GOOD people who took the time to at least listen to what we had to say and donate food items or cash. Looking forward to the next time we cook dinner at the house since all the other volunteers at the Smith locations collected truck loads of donations too.
What I learned yesterday… Snowboarding is a workout.
Ran 3 Miles in the Rain
Long late night, wet early morning. My cute friend, Helen, joined me for the Thin Mint 5K Sprint & 1 Mile Shortbread Shuffle this past Saturday. She hates me for making her suffer in the rain! But I’m definitely proud of her for powering though and running as much as she could in the cold wet weather. GOOD job Helen!
This run benefitted the Girls Scouts of Southern Nevada which means I didn’t leave without buying a box of Thin Mints and Carmel Delights.
Here are the overall results of my first run of the year.
98th place out of 156
Not my best time since we walked for a bit but still fun. There’s something about running in the rain that’s freeing. I ran in the rain before and like that time, I felt like I could have run longer, that the rain was energizing me. It was a great tingling feeling. It was awesome. I was free.
